Posts, Eligibility and Pay
Who Can Apply
You must live in Chennai revenue district, want to serve the public, and belong to one of these groups:
- Teachers (including retired teachers)
- Retired government employees and senior citizens
- Students and teachers of Master of Social Work (M.S.W.)
- Anganwadi workers
- Doctors and health experts
- Students and law students (law students only until they register as advocates)
- Non-political non-governmental social service organisations, and leaders of associations
- Members of women's groups, Maitri Sanghams (friendship clubs) and self-help groups that include the poor
- Any other person with a service mindset whom the District / Taluk Legal Services Authority considers suitable
Educational Qualification

Nature of Service and Honorarium
- A Para Legal Volunteer only gives service. This is not permanent employment.
- The engagement is purely temporary, with no basic salary or wages.
- An honorarium matching the service is paid, up to a maximum of Rs.750/- per day.
