Persons aged 35 to 65 years with a university degree and at least two years' experience in social work, child psychiatry or family counselling can apply to be empanelled as Counsellors in the Family Courts of Khambhaliya, Okha-Mandal and Kalyanpur. About Devbhumi Dwarka Family Court Counsellors

Family Court, Devbhumi Dwarka is preparing a panel of Counsellors for the Family Courts in Devbhumi Dwarka district, located at Khambhaliya, Okha-Mandal and Kalyanpur. The empanelment is made under the Gujarat Family Court (Amendment) Rules, 2023. The Family Court functions from the New District Court Building, Salaya Road, Khambhaliya.

Who Can Apply

An applicant must possess the following qualifications as on the last date of application:

• Degree of a recognized University, preferably with Social Science or psychology as one of the subjects.
• Minimum experience of 02 (Two) years in Social Work, Child Psychiatry or Family Counselling.
• Impeccable integrity.

The application form asks for educational qualifications from the Bachelor's degree onwards, with certificates attached, and for experience in the field of social and family welfare with certification as required under Rule 5(B) of the Gujarat Family Court (Amendment) Rules, 2023.

Preference and Relaxation

• Where other things are equal, preference in appointment shall be given to a woman candidate having the requisite qualification.
• Preference shall also be given to a candidate who has been a Judge or has experience of counselling in family matters.
• The High Court may, in exceptional circumstances, relax the minimum academic qualifications.

Age Limit

As on the last date fixed for submission of application, a candidate must have attained the age of 35 years and must not have crossed the age of 65 years. The notice does not mention any age relaxation.

Pay and Tenure

A candidate appointed as Counsellor, Family Court shall be paid an honorarium or fee as may be determined and notified by the State Government from time to time. The notice does not print an amount.

The appointment of a Counsellor may be terminated on recommendation of the High Court, without assigning any reason, at any time before the expiry of his or her term, on the recommendation of the concerned Principal Judge, Family Court. The length of the term is not specified in the notice.

Devbhumi Dwarka Family Court Counsellors Job Description

The Counsellor works in association with the Family Court to promote conciliation and secure speedy settlement of disputes relating to marriage and family affairs and connected matters. The Counsellor shall not act or plead for a party to a case or proceeding, but shall generally assist the Court in reaching a peaceful and amicable settlement of the dispute. A Counsellor entrusted with any petition shall:

• attend the Court as and when required by the Judge of the Family Court;
• aid and advise the parties regarding settlement of the subject-matter of dispute or any other part thereof;
• help the parties in reconciliation;
• submit a report or interim report, as required by the Court to which he or she is attached;
• perform such other functions as may be assigned by the Family Court to which he or she is attached, from time to time.

How to Apply for Devbhumi Dwarka Family Court Counsellors

1. Obtain the prescribed proforma, which is available on the official website of District Court, Devbhumi Dwarka (devbhumidwarka.dcourts.gov.in). The form is also printed with the notice.
2. On the form, fill in the name of the District or Taluka Family Court where you want to be empanelled as Counsellor, and affix a passport size coloured photo.
3. Attach the certificates of educational qualification and the experience certification, and, if you have worked as a Counsellor in a Family Court before, a copy of the appointment order.
4. Sign the form and the declaration with date and place.
5. Submit the filled form by email to [email protected], or in person at Family Court, Devbhumi Dwarka at Khambhaliya, 3rd Floor, New District Court Building, Salaya Road, Khambhaliya.
6. Submit it by 19 November 2026, 6:10 PM.

Applications submitted after this time limit, or not in the prescribed format, will not be taken into consideration.

Details Asked in the Application Form

• Applicant name, father's or husband's name, date of birth, permanent and correspondence addresses, mobile number and email address.
• Educational qualification table: name of exam, university, year of passing and percentage of marks.
• Advocate enrolment number, if enrolled as an Advocate.
• Whether any criminal prosecution is pending against the applicant, and whether the applicant has ever been convicted by a criminal court (with details if yes).
• Whether any case of the applicant is pending in this Family Court.

Selection and Interview

Applications will be scrutinised and eligible candidates will be called for interview. The list of candidates called for interview will be placed on the official website of District Court, Devbhumi Dwarka, and candidates must check it on the website on 23 November 2026. Interviews will be held from 26 November 2026 to 27 November 2026. The selection list will then be sent to the Hon'ble Gujarat High Court for consideration and approval.
